Summer’s Coming – Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

22 Apr

This past week, we did some filming with Fox 11 News focusing on several of our procedures.  One of the new technologies (see photo) is called miraDry…a new noninvasive microwave-based technology for the treatment of underarm sweat. With summer just around the corner, I thought you might want to hear more about this.  The procedure uses precisely controlled energy to eliminate underarm sweat glands.  Because the sweat glands don’t grow back once eliminated, the results are dramatic and lasting.

Other treatment options, including antiperspirants and toxins, aim to temporarily disable the sweat glands for various durations – requiring repeat treatments to maintain effectiveness.

If you decide to try miraDry, you can expect minimal to no downtime following the laura filming with foxprocedure. You should be able to return to normal activities or work right after the procedure, and you can typically resume exercise within several days. Some localized soreness or swelling is normal, and typically clears within a few weeks. Some patients have temporary altered sensation in their underarms or upper arms, which gradually disappears.

Most patients report a dramatic reduction of their underarm sweat – in a recent clinical study, the average underarm sweat reduction was 82 percent. You should see a reduction in sweat immediately after treatment. Two procedures spaced three months apart are required to maximize the results and duration.

Call us if you would like to discuss if miraDry is right for you.  If it is, you can bet you will not sweat the small stuff by summer.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation are hosting the “The Aesthetic Meeting 2013” in New York City.  Yes, it’s a wonderful town, and I am having a ball in between lectures and a “Cool Night Out in Manhattan” where I am demonstrating CoolSculpting with the rest of my “dream team” Laura Pietrzak PA-C and Dr. Barry DiBernardo.
