Dr. Stevens and Mike Kleine Plan Live miraDry “Sweat Off” October 4th, 2 PM PST

Marina Del Rey, CA – October 3, 2016 – Grant Stevens, MD, FACS, a board certified plastic surgeon and founder of Marina Plastic Surgery in Marina del Rey, and Mike Kleine CEO at Miramar Labs, creator of the FDA cleared procedure called miraDry®, will challenge each other to a live “sweat off.” It’s a case of “Dr. Stevens heal thyself” and Kleine getting a taste of his own medicine as they both undergo simultaneous miraDry procedures, Tuesday, October 4th at 2 pm PST on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MarinaPlasticSurgeryAssociates.

The miraDry system uses thermal energy that targets and destroys the sweat and odor glands. Once those glands are destroyed, they do not grow back. It’s the first and only non-invasive treatment to permanently eliminate underarm sweat and odor glands. After numbing the underarm area, it takes about one hour to complete the procedure. It’s perfect for men and women who never want to worry about underarm sweat and odor.

“We are excited to demonstrate this procedure for the world to see via Facebook,” said Dr. Stevens, medical director. “No one wants to use antiperspirants every day for the rest of their lives. Sweating is the pits. miraDry is the solution.”

Kleine said, “We are pleased to have Dr. Stevens and his team bring to patients the onlymiradry-photos treatment for the permanent reduction of underarm sweat that is also FDA-cleared for permanent reduction of hair of all colors. Marina Plastic Surgery is an excellent miraDry partner. They have extensive experience with miraDry and have made an ever growing number of people happy to escape the burdens of perspiration, odor and sweat-stained clothing and the chemicals in deodorants and antiperspirants. I am appreciative of the opportunity to join this fortunate group of Marina Plastic Surgery patients as the Marina clinicians demonstrate live just how easy and straightforward the treatment is.

”This painless process actually kills the targeted glands in the under arm area often making patients wonder if not being able to sweat at all is bad for them. Dr. Stevens says, “We have plenty of other sweat glands in our body to thermoregulate. Only about 2% of those glands live in the troublesome armpit area.”

equipmentBefore miraDry, sweating under the arms was treated with Botox, but Dr. Stevens says, “It is another way to turn off the sweat glands, but you have to do it several times a year, it hurts, it’s expensive and it doesn’t turn off the odor.” Anyone is a good candidate for miraDry. Since it is effective, affordable and painless, it is easy to see how its popularity is growing. The average treatment is about $1995 and the average patient only needs one treatment making it very affordable.

Even though miraDry is a non-surgical procedure, it is very important to seek out a qualified, experienced plastic surgeon for evaluation and consultation. Dr. Stevens has extensive experience with miraDry and finds it one of the most popular procedures for men at his Marina ManLand clinic.

Marina Plastic Surgery offers both surgical and non-surgical body-contouring procedures. For more information and to view before and after photos, visit Marina Plastic Surgery; like Marina Plastic Surgery on Facebook; and follow on Twitter @DrGrantStevens.

CoolSculpting: Before and After Pics

27 Sep
I have been a huge fan of CoolSculpting for quite some time. Recently, we had a blogger try the procedure and report her findings. Here are amazing before and after photos to share with you. The story is below, but there are more photos on Stef’s website – here’s the link.  Thanks for reading my blog too! WGS

cool-sculpting-before-after-double-chin

I can finally share my before and after photos from my CoolSculpting appointments at Marina Plastic Surgery. They say “good things come to those who wait.” Good things in this case are a thinner chin and arms. And yes, both were very worth the wait!

I am blown away with my results. I had three sessions each on my chin and upper arms, with a six to eight week waiting period between each appointment. Here are three things I learned

CoolScuplting isn’t a quick fix. It took five months until I saw the full effect of the three treatments. (That includes the waiting period between each.) You need to give your body the time to process and eliminate the fat after each treatment. (Read more about that in my first post.)

CoolSculpting isn’t for quitters. Every person I spoke to who only did one treatment reported results ranging from the lukewarm “Meh” to the steadfast “It didn’t work.” I personally did see slight results after just one treatment, but the most noticeable results came after my second treatment and increased with my third. Listen to your practitioner when they tell you how many appointments you need.

CoolSculpting works. I mean, just look at those photos! There is no denying that my chin and arms are visibly thinner.

Can I just take a moment to say how mortifying it is to post those before photos for the world to see? I spent YEARS (honestly, years) hiding my arms and double chin. Working the angles in photos, strategically placing layers in my hair, sporting shrugs. To, quite literally, let it all hang out there is hard.

But I’m so happy with the results that it even gives me the confidence to show you where I started. I wore a tank top and a ponytail last week. Not to be too dramatic, but that’s major for me.As mentioned in my previous post, it doesn’t come cheap. Sessions with the CoolMini are $1000 a treatment and CoolSculpting is $700 per area (but Marina Plastic Surgery does offer discounts if you purchase multiple treatments). But knowing now how well it worked, I’d pay it in a heartbeat. (Well, not a heartbeat. But I’d skip my latte a day habit and totally start a savings account for it!)

If you have stubborn fat in areas that seem to be resistant to diet and exercise, I highly recommend CoolSculpting. If you go see Rachael (and, you should!), tell her we heart this sent you.
